Smile! Starz’s “Shining Vale,” starring Courteney Cox, Greg Kinnear and Mira Sorvino, is back for Season 2. The horror comedy picks up from last season after Pat (Cox) checks herself into a psychiatric hospital following her attempt at murdering her own family with an ax. The new season debuts on Friday, Oct. 13, at midnight ET on the STARZ app and all STARZ streaming platforms. The linear premiere will be at 9 p.m. ET.

“I’m rehabilitated. I’ve learned my lesson. I’m no longer a danger to society,” Pat says in the trailer, though it’s not so clear how much truth there is in that statement since her alter-ego returns, but this time, in the flesh.

“Season 2 kicks off four months later, when Pat’s insurance runs out and she is released from the psychiatric hospital early,” reads the series synopsis. “Pat returns home, determined to pick up the pieces of her broken family, but she quickly finds out her children don’t need her, Terry doesn’t remember her and to make matters worse, Pat’s new neighbor Ruth looks exactly like Rosemary. Meanwhile, the house starts to reveal the shocking secrets of its dark past. Every mother feels like they live in an insane asylum, but Pat may be right!”

Gus Birney, Merrin Dungey and Dylan Gage also star, with guest appearances by Judith Light, Allison Tolman and Sherilyn Fenn.

“Shining Vale” is produced by Cox and is executive produced by Jeff Astrof, Sharon Horgan, Clelia Mountford, Aaron Kaplan and Melanie Frankel. The series was created by Astrof and Horgan.
